I remember well that one day I read or someone told me that the kind of restaurants registered more plentiful in Madrid were the Turks, also known as "kebabs". I'm sure the Chinese and the Italians are not far away and perhaps those are the best known in other latitudes. There is no denying that the Italians learned many years ago to make the pizza and pasta cooking its identity internationally. I think that's just one of the reasons that are hard to find Italian food with the right quality. The wide range and the large demand, coupled with its apparent ease of preparation make this meal you find almost everywhere, but rarely the desired quality.
The San Paolo Tratroria is apparently a restaurant like so many of the hundreds of Italians who are in Madrid, but behind the facade lies a different place and out of the ordinary. Once inside you realize that is a different place, living room and the decor is pretty neat and provide an intimate atmosphere and a romantic ideal for a quiet dinner. Maybe I missed it a little more light for proper tasting dishes.

Their halls and restaurant distribution at various levels make it more interesting and gradually discover nooks and quiet that can be ideal for meetings or group meals. There is even an area called Chill Out where curious combines original and two floors of the warehouse with an area restaurant to listen to music and have a drink in the same restaurant.
The menu is very broad and includes pizza and fresh pasta daily processing. Your kitchen is maintained and the quality raw material. I was a weekday dinner and not too many tables, the service was adequate and the dishes were well presented and the portions generous enough.

We were fortunate to sample B urrata. We gave out the letter and could not resist. If you do not know this is an Italian cream cheese. As a curiosity I will tell you that this slightly sour cream is made from milk and calf rennet that is inserted into a bag of cheese that is made with a thin sheet of pressed cheese. Its flavor and texture are amazing and we were served was accompanied by an impressive basil sauce.

We still have a good cut of beef carpaccio and the flesh in its set point. He was accompanied by plates of arugula and Parmesan and a dispensable egg cream and basil. In my opinion a bit of good olive oil and freshly ground pepper would have given the perfect condiment.
The second was a delicious Risotto Funghi with mushrooms and tasty Tagliolini Scampi and Asparagi, egg pasta like spaghetti with prawns and asparagus. Both second to the height and above all a great serving of pasta with sauce in quantity and well prepared. There were two more but we could not follow recommendations of the pit boss and Tiramisu closed with a lemon cake, the two really good, different, with which I could not stay.
To drink we opted for an Italian red wine, Branciforti 2008, made from grape Nero d'Avola, Sicily's largest, giving it a resounding flavor but balanced. In total we paid eighty euros and taking into account the quality and quantity of dinner plates plus drink I think the price is reasonable. A but paper napkins out of place.
However, it is an Italian to be considered in the center of Madrid. As always you have some photos .

Monty, are not overly attached, are fine. Some more than others but overall good. Nothing to do with the distance from other trattorias as Pulcinella ;-) if you know not.
I did not know and see, I have been there often. In fact, the address must be in front of one of my favorites, La Manduca de Azagra ...
One thing, I've read that has a romantic touch but it seems that the tables are not too attached?
