Now about a year ago that the name Benavente California Restaurant has reopened in its new location. Business focused on long family tradition traditional cuisine run by founder's son Miro Calvo former California. Marcelino, one of his brothers, is the sommelier and began working professionally with her father. Marcellin founded over thirteen years the California Tasting Club in honor of the family business. Another brother is the one that currently runs the restaurant Brigecio , of which we have spoken in this Blog.
The letter from the California Restaurant immediately reveals the traditional orientation of your kitchen, not too wide, but sufficiently varied and unpretentious working.

To start we take a right croquettes, seafood clams, rich lion jerky Zamorano cheese and spectacular sweetbreads stewed with paprika exceptional and perfectly clean, is melted in the mouth.

The latter were very different from the typical lamb roasted fish such as Conger Arriero Garlic or Fresh Cod with Ratatouille. The highlight my deer meat stew with vegetables and mushrooms was tasty, tender and juicy and which appeared again delicious nuances of pepper they use. All generous portions and well prepared and presented.
The homemade desserts, varied and very good portions, but I could not.
With two bottles of wine from Toro and some coffee and desserts, not all, very well priced, we were eleven and did not get to 300 Euros.
Definitely a place for traditional food with great value for money and where not to be missed nothing you do with paprika.
