The Balcony of Artemis

Last Friday we went to dinner 10 friends to Navan, a town 56 km. Madrid on the road of Extremadura. The main square, called Plaza de Segovia, has the layout and appearance of the typical Castilian squares, with arcaded porches and spacious balconies. In one, the restaurant's balcony Artemis, has several tables for dinner contemplating the view of the square.

We began by asking an assortment of appetizers consisting of sacks stuffed with cream cheese, bags of prawns and porcini croquettes addition of goat cheese salad. The bags, which are also repeated in the desserts seem to be the preferred technique of the house. However, they are still a somewhat greasy fried wrapper. The shrimp and cheese came quickly but the famine traímos that flavor. The porcini croquettes were bland, but overall, the starters were suggested to be pure heavy fried.

In the second course, which we decided we call pork meats, beef fillet with creamy Cabrales cheese, steak with mango sauce and puff pastry Iberian secret. In particular beef steaks and Napoleon received good ratings.

Tenderloin, masked by the mango salsa did not receive good reviews. In general, when a rich meat itself is offered as a steak sauce with a taste so strong and different as this handle is that the meat quality is not adequate. Wary of sauces on steaks, fillets and steaks when fully cover the piece of meat! Look at the difference in presentation between the sirloin and fillet steak.

Fish orders were squid, hake with sesame wrapped in banana leaves and mullet fillets. Of these, the mullet deserve the best rating. Hake gimmicky but failed.

Desserts consisted of the reviled assortment that included, besides cakes and ice cream, the usual bags, this time a banana.

The winery was classic and a little higher price so we decided to go for a safe standard of Ribera del Duero as the Protos.

The final price was 500 €, including 16 € supplement to dine on the balcony and 130 € in the range of starters, 50 € per person.

In definitive, the Balcony of Artemis offers traditional food with sparkles, unfortunate, of other cuisines. The balcony is your most important asset but not worth the confusion between fires. A shame because the restaurant could give more of themselves.
