Dinner at home tonight, alone, but accompanied by a TV that as usual paid little attention to my attention a program about the Bocuse d'Or has brought to mind that had some meaning to write this time subject.

Speaking of the Bocuse d'Or is talk of possibly cooking contest world's most prestigious and one of the best chefs in the world. When I refer to cook this can be none other than Paul Bocuse, we talked about lightly in a post a few weeks ago on The Food Bouchons and Lyonesa - father and creator of this competition it takes more than twenty years celebrated in different parts of the world .

These "Olympics of cooking" awarded annually to many countries competing to prove they are the best of world cuisine. The call for Asia met late last May to 10 countries in Shanghai, China, with Japan at the hands of the country Yasuji Sasaki winner.

The European call this year's Bocuse d'Or 2008 will take place on 1 and 2 July in Stavanger, Norway. This time will be 20 countries competing for the Bocuse d'Or, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Croatia, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Switzerland , Sweden, England and of course Spain.

Last year Spain was represented by Jesus Almagro who was a worthy who won ninth place with a presentation of Balder and fish Red King Crab with paella, olives, ham and piquillo peppers and other ingredients.

In our country is usually the winner of the Championship of Spain of the Cooks often represent Spain in the Bocuse d'Or. This time the national championship with representation from all communities was held last April, coinciding with the XXII International Exhibition Gourmet Club held in Madrid, and has won by Angel Palacios, new chef of La Broche, since last February to abandon the project Sergi Arola.

Angel Palacios, of Catalan origin, inherited a love for the kitchen of his mother's side and developed since childhood. After his training, and in the professional field, started out with Martin Berasategui and other Spanish and French restaurants including El Bulli is where he met Sergi Arola and from there to La Broche, where virtually since its inception and what no doubt will help keep the two Michelin stars with which the restaurant has.

No doubt all this will rank as a great candidate to win the Bocuse d'Or this year and why not, for the Bocuse d'Or World to be held in Lyon next year.
