Front of the Restaurant El Meson de Doña Filo

This weekend getaway has been dining to take away the bad taste of the truncated trip to La Rioja, the Portal Echaurren.

This time the town has been selected Colmenar del Arroyo in Madrid. In this small village at the foot of the Sierra de Guadarrama, slightly hidden in narrow streets is the Meson de Doña Filo.

In this place July Reoyo develops modern and creative cuisine that has led to a Michelin star. The room is small, about nine or ten tables, which makes it particularly enjoyable. The slope and attentive service makes you feel very comfortable at all times.

They usually have a couple of tasting menus that change frequently, one short and one longer, but believe that in short no you will stay hungry. The water usually with three wines of your choice, one with the first, another with the main courses and a final to accompany desserts.

We tasted the following dishes:

  • Artichoke Soup with Loin chopped black olive dressing
  • Spinach Salad with cockles and cream of potato
  • Judiones Stews
  • Steamed Salmon with Beet Sauce, with its leaves and pine nut praline
  • Corns and hills
  • Baba Rum with Caramelized Banana and Coconut Ice Cream

In our case, the wines were a White Rioja, a red wine from Bierzo and to accompany a dessert muscat sparkling Valencia.

The results have been quite positive and the site is recommended. In our case the only problem was that we had to limit the menu because we were exposed with a bonus of invitation, which could only add the tripe. We will definitely return, but no strings attached.

Regarding the dishes we liked more the first, the soup and salad, rich and original, especially the salad. The beans perfectly cooked, in point, nothing strong and very tasty stew. Salmon were not expecting much and not mistaken, well-crafted but nothing special, to highlight its gears praline.

Regarding Corns and hills is what I was disappointed because in that case if you expect much, enough the place is famous for its tripe stew. They were perfectly cooked, either, but for my taste to the sauce lacked work and were somewhat old-nail. In short, rich, but not the height of fame. The simple but delicious dessert with a excelende marriage.
